Dec. 1 Is #GivingTuesday, Give to USITT!

Janet Gramza Communications Associate

GivingTuesday – the Tuesday after Black Friday and Cyber Monday – is a day to give back. And #GivingTuesday -- the December 1 social media campaign -- is a way to give back to a favorite non-profit organization. Why not make it USITT?

USITT is launching its first #GivingTuesday this year by asking the backstage community to Tweet, post, and give to support its efforts on their behalf.

Make a gift to USITT here.

#GivingTuesday was created four years ago by 92nd Street Y, a New York City cultural center that brings people together to serve their communities. The day has grown into a movement that “harnesses the potential of social media and the generosity of people around the world to bring about real change,” according to #GivingTuesday.

Make a difference with a gift to a USITT program on #GivingTuesday. Every gift matters. The Institute has many causes that benefit members:

Rigging Safety -- USITT offers free rigging inspections for high school stages and safety training for staff and students on their school’s rigging system. No other organization provides this service.

Diversity -- USITT provides educational opportunities and mentoring for students from under-represented populations through its Gateway Program, and works to increase equity and inclusion in theatre technology.

Grants & Fellowships -- USITT offers grants and fellowships to support advanced study and research for problem-solving and innovation in performing arts and live entertainment technology. These are funded by the Edward F. Kook Fund.

General Operations -- USITT’s General Operations Fund is unrestricted giving and may be used for any and all projects and activities. Gift allow the Institute to continue to grow as a year-round educational resource, an active network of people who support each other’s careers, and a repository of the knowledge and artistry of those who have gone before us.

A gift to USITT is 100 percent tax deductible and, if made by December 31, counts as a deduction for the 2015 tax year.

USITT is top-rated by #GreatNonprofits and has a #GuideStarGold rating for financial transparency. Any gift, no matter how small, helps USITT grow programs that improve the theatre technology field.
