Focal Press to Sponsor LiNK

Focal PressLiNK, the new weekend interview and interaction program to connect theatre programs and potential students, received a boost with the introduction of Focal Press as a Platinum sponsor. LiNK will be held November 14-16 at the Hilton Atlanta Airport hotel.

The affordable opportunity to LiNK graduate programs and conservatories with participants is a joint effort of USITT and SETC. Schools which offer graduate degrees in acting, directing, design, technology, and management will interview potential students who will be able to submit portfolios online for review prior to the in-person event.

"Focal Press is overjoyed to be 'linking' with USITT and SETC as the Platinum Sponsor for the inaugural LINK event," said Stacey Walker, Acquisitions Editor at Focal Press. "Our mission to spread knowledge and education about Theatre practices across the spectrum of students, instructors, and professionals perfectly dovetails with this venture, and we couldn't be more honored or excited to be a part of it!"

Schools nationwide, including the Stella Adler Studio of Acting/Art of Acting Studio, Boston University, Rutgers University, and the Savannah College of Art and Design are already signed on to participate. Online registration and a list of participating schools can be found at www.usitt.org/link14

Applications for schools to be part of the process are now being accepted.

The online process for students will open August 1.

Because the application can be compiled online, it is designed to be simple and easy to complete. Costs are being kept very low to encourage students to explore their options. Cost for students is just $40. The sponsorship of Focal Press will assist in keeping costs down.

Special rates have been negotiated at the Hilton Atlanta Airport, and a social event is planned for Friday night to allow students to interact informally with faculty, staff, and fellow students.

USITT (United States Institute for Theatre Technology) and SETC (Southeastern Theatre Conference) are working together to create LiNK as an extension of their missions to create opportunities for performing arts professionals in all stages of their careers.
