Entertainment Design, Lighting Dimensions and The Entertainment Technology Show/LDI have announced the creation of a new "Rising Star" Award to be presented annually during USITT’s Annual Conference & Stage Expo.

The award was announced at the 2004 Awards Banquet which concluded the conference in Long Beach in March by ED/LD Consulting Editor Ellen Lampert-Greaux.

Details of the application process and exact criteria for selection of the new Rising Star Award will be announced in the near future and details will become available through the USITT Office and the web site at www.usitt.org. The organization has pledged $25,000 to sponsor the Rising Star Award.

Bruce Brockman, USITT President noted "USITT is delighted to have Entertainment Design, Lighting Dimensions and The Entertainment Technology Show/LDI permanently fund this new award.

"It will afford us an opportunity to recognize outstanding young professionals in the design and production fields in the first few years of their careers."

The first Rising Star Award is scheduled to be presented at USITT’s 2005 Annual Conference & Stage Expo which will be held March 16 to 19 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The award and will be selected through recommendations by professional designers and educators. Details on the awards process will be available on the USITT web site.
