Commission Offers Two Engineering PDWs

Join the authors of two theatrical engineering design texts for Professional Design Workshops at the USITT 2016 in Salt Lake City offered by the Engineering Commission.

Alan Hendrickson and Daniel Lisowski will lead a workshop exploring deck winch design, including applicable principles of physics such as force, torque, speed, and power. Based on Hendrickson’s book, Mechanical Design for the Stage, this PDW will be offered 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, March 19. Attendees will learn how to apply these principles to their own designs. Registration is $175 for USITT members and $210 for non-members. Lunch and an afternoon snack are included.

For those who teach technical design, the “Train the Trainer: Steel Structural Design for the Stage” workshop is not to be missed! This two-day workshop with Ben Sammler and Steven Schmidt will focus on updates to steel design covered in the second edition of Structural Design for the Stage. Attendees will learn what has changed and how to apply the new material. This PDW is offered starting 8:30 a.m. Monday and Tuesday, March 14 and 15. Registration is $300 for USITT members and $360 for non-members.
