Nelson Joins USITT National Staff

Mallory Kay Nelson is excited to join USITT’s staff at the National Office as Membership & Education Assistant.

Mallory has a master’s degree in costume design from Carnegie Mellon University and is a board member of the Society for Disability Studies. Scholar, designer, and disability advocate, she wears many hats.

Mallory recently resided in Los Angeles where she designed for film, television, and theatre. She also worked as a vocational specialist and ethnographer. With a strong focus on empowering the disabled entertainment community, Nelson has worked with the Media Access Task Force toward full inclusion.  She guest lectures at universities on the subject of disability, entertainment, and what’s next.

She was resident costume designer for many of Denver-based PHAMALY Theatre Company’s award winning shows. Nelson has worked with the broadest range of disabled performers and is happy to bring this experience to USITT.

Mallory said her new position at USITT will allow her to connect, educate, and expand the wonderful work USITT is doing in setting the standard for American entertainment. Contact Mallory at mallory@usitt.org.
