Wally Newcomer Award: Nominate at USITT
Nominations for the Wally Newcomer Award, given by the Wally Russell Foundation, are now open on the USITT website. Nominations will close on January 15.
This award will be presented to an individual who has demonstrated exceptional promise in the theatre industry. This year, the Wally Foundation announced it will move its awards presentations to USITT's Annual Conference & Stage Expo, starting with the 2014 conference in Fort Worth.
The Wally Russell Foundation, created in 1993 in memory of the lighting and theatre visionary, also presents an annual Wally Lifetime Achievement Award and two lighting internships. For information on those, visit www.wallyrussellfund.org.
Nominations for the Newcomer Award must be made through USITT. Nominees may be at any stage in careers involving design, technical theatre, automation, stage technology, or projection. They should have demonstrated a propensity for innovation, shown exceptional initiative, created a new technique, or founded an exceptional arts organization, according to the award criteria.
The winner will receive a $1,500 cash prize, an all-expenses-paid trip to the USITT Conference & Stage Expo, and a one-year membership to USITT from the Wally Russell Foundation.
