Stage Expo Sales Manager

August brought another trip to Louisville, and this time members of the Conference Committee were joined by the Executive Committee, the 50th Anniversary Committee, and the Commissioners, who were there for a retreat.

Many separate meetings were held, but all the groups joined together for a reception on Saturday night at the Marriott.

Between meetings they managed to find several places for food and refreshment, some new, some already old friends. The most popular eating establishment proved to be the Bristol(s) - the Bristol Bar & Grille on Main between 6th and 7th (just past the Kentucky Center for the Arts) and the Bristol Café near the Marriott on Jefferson at 1st Street. A Louisville tradition, many of the group had dined at a Bristol during SETC trips, and made sure to stop back for lunch or dinner.

Several were lucky enough to catch a ride to Dizzy Whizz where they sampled the house specialty, the Whizz Burger, washed down with root beer floats, malts, and shakes. They do a busy take-out service, so if you can't get there during the Conference, you can send someone for a big bag of burgers.

During the May trip the group checked out Deke's, which is just across the street from the KICC, and ended up back there for another group dinner. There is a nice beer selection, and the waitress was happy to put our meals on separate checks. In addition to the ubiquitous Hot Brown, they serve a variety of pastas, meats, and seafood. Don't forget to try the smoked cheddar cheese grits.

There are a bunch of restaurants at Fourth Street Live! including the Hard Rock Café, TGIFridays, and The Pub, which several people had tried and liked on an earlier trip. This time many members of the group ate lunch at The Red Star Tavern, which provided tasty salads, sandwiches, even a skillet of sweet cornbread on a quick turn-around between meetings.

When copies of the Exhibitor Prospectus were distributed, committee members were astonished at how much booth space has already been reserved for Stage Expo 2006. Non-Commercial table selection will take place as the fall semester opens. For more information on exhibiting at Stage Expo 2006, contact Helen Willard at hpwillard@aol.com.

To the right is the preliminary list of exhibitors as of August 8.
