Theatre Consultants Collaborative Welcomed

USITT welcomes Theatre Consultants Collaborative as a new Sustaining member of the Institute. Robert Long is the contact person for the company, based in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. The company's multi-disciplinary team has contributed to the design of over 350 facilities, both newly constructed and renovated including theatres, concert halls, educational facilities, arts centers, museums, and houses of worship. TOMCAT Helps With Wicked

The musical Wicked, the backstory of the wicked witch of the west and Glenda the good witch, will soon begin its North American tour with custom items from TOMCAT. Working with the production company, TOMCAT designed and manufactured a 132 foot span of electric truss based on a custom version of the EDDY Award winning TOMCAT Swing Wing Truss. TOMCAT also built four sets of lighting towers as well as a cyc boom and cyc trusses. The items were shipped to PRG Lighting in New Jersey to be fitted with electrics before the tour's first stop in Toronto where the production opens March 8.

Gallagher Joins Strong

Jack Gallagher has joined Strong Entertainment Lighting as followspot sales product manager. He has more than 25 years' experience in domestic and international building products markets serving the entertainment equipment business. Mr. Gallagher is responsible for generating sales revenue, customer service, and product development guidance for "the world's most respected line of followspots."

Mehron, Inc. has introduced a newsletter, the Mehron Flash for its retailers to help them stay current about new products and expansion of existing product lines. Sapsis Rigs the Solstice

Sapsis Rigging, Inc. provided the rigging design, equipment, and installation for Paul Winter's 25th Winter Solstice Celebration held in the Cathedral of St. John the Divine in New York City. Sapsis has been providing rigging for the the event since 1989. Michael Sapsis was head rigger this year. Another SRI rigger, Scott Sloan, was one of two gong performers flown to about 65 feet who played during the Celebration.

Stage Technologies Keeps Cruising

Stage Technologies will be supplying another new Princess cruise ship with stage automation. The Crown Princess is the fifth "grand class" cruise ship to be built by Fincantieri in their Monfalcone, Italy, shipyard. Stage Technologies will supply the stage automation control and power flying system for the ship, including 21 fixed speed and 42 variable speed axes.
