For the Record

Tech Expo, a biennial favorite, will make its 10th appearance as part of Stage Expo 2005 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. At USITT's 1999 Conference, also in Toronto, the displays were a big draw.

Special Exhibits at
Stage Expo 2005

USITT Annual Conference & Stage Expo in Toronto will have a varied and exciting array of exhibits at Stage Expo in addition to World Stage Design 2005, which will be on display during the week of the conference at the Fairmont Royal York hotel.

Stage Expo 2005 will include old favorites like the Architecture Awards and Cover the Walls, plus the 10th biennial anniversary edition of Tech Expo. A new special exhibit this year will display the results of the Costume Commission’s Design Charette session at Stage Expo.

One of the premiere exhibits at Stage Expo will feature the design work of the World Stage Design jury members and international guests.

Rosie Lam Tung Pui-Man of Hong Kong, a jury member, will show through her choices for the exhibit how the local culture has an impact on her designs. Her session to discuss these designs will be held on Friday, March 18 at 10 a.m.

Pirjo Valinen from Helsinki, Finland, an international guest, has developed a unique technique for making costume from paper, and examples of her designs will be displayed. She will present a session for the Costume Commission on Wednesday at noon. Stay tuned for updates as participants are added to this special exhibit.

What would a trip to Canada be without a display of Canadian designs? The finishing touches are being made on an exhibit featuring work from the outstanding festivals of Canada. Please check the Annual Conference & Stage Expo pages for updates on this special exhibit.
