Plan Now to Tour Southeast Asia

As the area recovers from the recent tsunami, plans are still going forward for the USITT Study Tour to Southeast Asia from December 26, 2005 to January 11, 2006.

This special Southeast Asian theatre, dance, and costume tour is designed to entertain, inspire and educate theatre design and production professionals and educators.

It includes stops in Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam.The tour will be led by Dick Durst, Tours Coordinator for the International Committee of USITT. For complete information visit http://www.usitt.org/activities/seAsiaTour/Asia.html.

Registration forms should be submitted by February 15, 2005 to guarantee costs.

Costume Poster Slots Still Available

There are still a few Costume Design & Technology Poster Session slots available.

The Poster Session is a juried event and may qualify those chosen for travel funding through their employers. The 200 word or less typewritten abstract of the information to be presented is due by February 15.

Kelly Hanson Named Rising Star

Kelly Hanson, a young professional freelancing and working at Tony Walton's studio, will receive the first USITT Rising Star Award sponsored by Entertainment Design, Lighting Dimensions, and ETS-LDI.

Ms. Hanson was nominated for the new honor, which includes a $1,000 stipend and a year membership in USITT, by Steve Gilliam.
