World Congress Sessions

OISTAT is confirming the programming
for its World Congress in Toronto on Tuesday,
March 15, 2005.
The OISTAT Governing Board
met in Yi-Lan, Taiwan October 1 to 4. The topics
and presenters of the OISTAT programs were set,
though the final titles and specifics of the content
have not yet been confirmed.
USITT conference attendees
and OISTAT delegates from more than 32 nations
can look forward to four programming sessions,
two beginning at 1:30 p.m. and two beginning
at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 15. The programs
will include sessions on
- The Future of Theatres with
German architect Reinhold Daberto (author of the Theatres in
2000 project);
- The Future of Flying Systems
-- Manual or Automated with Dutch theatre consultant
Louis Janssen, a principal in Theateradvies,
a leading European Theatre Consulting firm;
- Women in Scenography with participants from
Europe and Asia;
- New Media in the Theatre with a noted
British media expert (this session promises to be high-powered).
In addition, all USITT members are cordially
invited to attend the OISTAT World Congress Keynote Address at 10
a.m. on March 15. The keynote speakers are notable international
scenographers and production architects. The speakers are currently
trying to clear their schedules. By the next issue of Sightlines,
OISTAT should be able to announce the names of the keynote speakers
and provide further information on the four programs
