OISTAT Announces
World Congress Sessions

Leon Brauner
Head of US OISTAT Centre
OISTAT Secretary

OISTAT is confirming the programming for its World Congress in Toronto on Tuesday, March 15, 2005.

The OISTAT Governing Board met in Yi-Lan, Taiwan October 1 to 4. The topics and presenters of the OISTAT programs were set, though the final titles and specifics of the content have not yet been confirmed.

USITT conference attendees and OISTAT delegates from more than 32 nations can look forward to four programming sessions, two beginning at 1:30 p.m. and two beginning at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 15. The programs will include sessions on

  • The Future of Theatres with German architect Reinhold Daberto (author of the Theatres in 2000 project);
  • The Future of Flying Systems -- Manual or Automated with Dutch theatre consultant Louis Janssen, a principal in Theateradvies, a leading European Theatre Consulting firm;
  • Women in Scenography with participants from Europe and Asia;
  • New Media in the Theatre with a noted British media expert (this session promises to be high-powered).

In addition, all USITT members are cordially invited to attend the OISTAT World Congress Keynote Address at 10 a.m. on March 15. The keynote speakers are notable international scenographers and production architects. The speakers are currently trying to clear their schedules. By the next issue of Sightlines, OISTAT should be able to announce the names of the keynote speakers and provide further information on the four programs
