Midwest: To Hold Mechanical Design Competition
There’s still time to design and build a pitching machine for the Midwest Regional Section’s Mechanical Design Competition, to be held at the University of Illinois Krannert Center on May 10.
This year, the small prototypes will be tested for pitch speed and accuracy. All college theatre majors are invited to join in the fun and compete for a full conference pass to the 2015 Annual Conference & Stage Expo in Cincinnati. California: UCLA to Host Design Showcase
California Regional Section and nearby members are invited to participate in Design Showcase West at UCLA on June 7.
The annual event consists of a morning VIP viewing session (by invitation only), followed by an afternoon session (from 2 to at least 4 p.m.) open to the public. Design Showcase West is hosted by the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television; the Costume Designers Guild, Local 892; the United Scenic Artists, Local USA-829; the Set Decorators Society of America; and the Art Directors Guild, Local 800.
This is a great opportunity for students, faculty, and other working professionals to meet talented new MFA design graduates from around the country and to view their recent work. It also is a good chance to catch up with some old friends and colleagues and to make some new acquaintances and professional connections.
