Conference & Stage Expo
For the Record
Starting 2010

2010 promises to be a banner year for USITT, and we hope all our members will help us celebrate. The official Anniversary Party will conclude the 2010 Annual Conference on Saturday, April 3, so plan to be part of this great occasion. There is not an Awards Banquet planned for 2010, instead we’ll throw open the doors to a great celebration, open to all without charge.

Louis Bradfield Retires

We congratulate Louis Bradfield who is retiring after more than 44 years as an IATSE 720 stagehand working on the Las Vegas strip. Mr. Bradfield, who became a USITT Fellow in 2009, has been a member of the organization since 1968, and is well-known for his work for both USITT and ESTA.

While Mr. Bradfield is stepping down as head electrician at the Jubilee Theatre at Bally’s, a position he has held for 36 years, he’s still going to be affiliated with Bally’s, doing special projects and development... and Jubiliee! is still the longest-running show on the Strip.

Those familiar with Mr. Bradfield’s ingenuity will not be surprised to learn that for Thanksgiving he devised a special “turkey hoister” powered by his ¼ horsepower Columbus McKinnon lift – or that the lift is the first one off the CM production line for that size.
