Something old, something new…

This old saying describes the more than 17 sessions offered by the Costume Design & Technology Commission at the Phoenix 2007 Conference & Stage Expo.

In the "something old" category, the Commission will celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Costume Poster Session. The session is a juried presentation of posters that involve innovative or creative solutions to many topics relating to Costume Design & Technology. Also on the Costume docket again this year is Developing the Design Idea: Take 3. This year's play to explore is Shakespeare's The Tempest. Bring a love of the play and its characters, initial inspirations to share, and sketching materials!

In conjunction with the International Commission, the Costume Design & Technology Commission will welcome Marina Raytchnicova, international costume designer, in a session where she will present her approach to costume design and discuss her drawing techniques. The Commission again welcomes presenters from the Professional Design and Wardrobe Unions to share their unique fields.

Find out who will receive the Distinguished Achievement Award at a session honoring the recipient's body of work.

Stay tuned for the next issue of Sightlines for the "Something New" part of the Commission's programming. There's a full and exciting list of programming planned for 2007.
