Izenour to be Honored

George C. Izenour will receive the 2004 Wally Russell Lifetime Achievement Award as part of the LDI 2004 Awards ceremony on Saturday, October 23 at the Sands Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. Mr. Izenour, called a true pioneer in the field of lighting and considered one of the fathers of modern stage lighting, will receive the award which honors an individual who exhibits a strong sense of leadership, a commitment to technological innovation, and a career of service to the lighting industry. Recent recipients have included Sonny Sonnenfeld in 2003 and Jimmy Fuller in 2002.

New Fixtures Introduced

New VP3500 Spot and VL3500Q Spot luminaries have been introduced by Vari-Lite. The new fixtures give lighting designers who require 1200 watt fixtures with automated shutter capabilities more opportunities. The VL3500 Spot luminaries match perfectly with the VL300 Spot fixtures to provide a complete 1200 watt spot package. The fixtures were introduced at a product launch at Manhattan Center Studios in New York, New York, and debuted in Europe at the PLASA show in London, England. Haas Named Manager

Karl E. Haas has been named Western Regional Manager for Architectural Sales for ETC Architectural, the architectural-lighting division of Electronic Theatre Controls (ETC). Mr. Haas, who will be based in the ETC West office in Hollywood, California, will serve a sales territory that includes Los Angeles, California; Las Vegas, Nevada; and the western portions of both the United States and Canada. He began his new position on September 14.
