D. Lynn Meyers will kick off the USITT Annual Conference & Stage Expo 10 a.m., Wednesday, March 18 at the Duke Energy Convention Center in Cincinnati, Ohio. Her remarks will be followed by the Institute’s Annual Meeting and the presentation of awards, including the Joel E. Rubin Founder’s Award, which is kept secret until the start of the Conference.
Ms. Meyers is in her 12th season as producing artistic director of Ensemble Theatre of Cincinnati (ETC), and recently directed Steel Magnolias at Garry Marshall’s Falcon Theatre in Los Angeles. Her Off-Broadway credits include Traveler in the Dark by Marsha Norman, and Max and Maxie by James McClure. Select regional credits include: the Williamstown Theatre Festival, Capitol Repertory, Stage West in Calgary and Toronto, and the Mayfield Theatre in Edmonton where she directed her original musical, Starstruck. National Canadian tours include I Hate Hamlet, Same Time, Next Year, and Mass Appeal with the late Gale Gordon. Select ETC credits include: the regional premieres of Mary’s Wedding, Rabbit Hole, Fiction, String of Pearls, Mack and Mabel, Thom Pain (based on nothing), Intimate Apparel, I Am My Own Wife, Sight Unseen, The Exonerated, Hedwig and the Angry Inch (2003 & 2001), The Guys, and A Lesson Before Dying; and the world premieres of Ugly Duck, Wayfarer’s Rest, Cinderella, and James and Annie.
Previously affiliated with Cincinnati’s Playhouse in the Park as associate director and casting director, a few of her favorite productions there include directing The Real Thing and Steel Magnolias. Her extensive casting director credits include work for MTM, CBS, PBS, BBC, HBO, and Paramount, and serving as location casting director for Castle Rock’s The Shawshank Redemption. She is a graduate of Thomas More College and was recently inducted into the Cincinnati Entertainment Award’s Hall of Fame. She received the 2000 YWCA Career Women of Achievement Award and just received a 2008 Women of Over-the-Rhine Award.
