For the Record

We join her colleagues from around the world in congratulating Pamela Howard who was named Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) on the 2008 Birthday Honors list by Queen Elizabeth II who presented the award in October. She was honored for her service to drama.

Ms. Howard, who is 69, has been a theatre designer, director, and educator as well as a curator of exhibitions for more than 40 years. Her book, What is Scenography?, was published in the United States and Great Britain and has been translated into Serbian, Greek, and Galician. She has worked extensively with OISTAT, the International Organization of Scenographers, Theatre Architects and Technicians. Ms. Howard was one of the originators of and continues to be a force with Scenofest, held in conjunction with the Prague Quadrennial.
