Nominate Now for Rising Star Award

The deadline is fast approaching for nominations of outstanding young professionals for the USITT Rising Star Award. The process has been streamlined, with an online application available by following the link here.

The award, sponsored by LDI2007/Live Design, recognizes young professionals in the first four years of their careers for artistic excellence in the areas of lighting, sound, scenic, and projection design or a convergence of design disciplines.

Deadline for nominations is October 18.

Architecture Awards Deadline November 2

Know an interesting performing arts space? Could it be eligible for a USITT Architecture Award? New construction, renovation, or creative adaptation of existing spaces for performance are all eligible for consideration.

Submission deadline is November 2, 2007 for 2008 awards. USITT's Architecture Commission administers the adjudication process and is seeking increased participation in the program.

To be eligible, a building project must have been completed in the past 10 years. Projects can be submitted by architects, theatre consultants, acousticians, or building owners. Students Needed for Conference Assistance

Student members who are willing to volunteer 15 hours of work at the 2008 Conference & Stage Expo in Houston, Texas, may apply for the Student Volunteer Program, but they should act quickly.

After October 4, the Student Volunteer Program will be open to anyone wishing to become a USITT member. Forms will be available on-line at www.usitt.org/houston.

USITT Office Move

News about the USITT office move is included throughout this issue as the staff in Syracuse, New York, prepares to relocate to new, purpose-designed space. There may be a slight distuption in office operations around October 1, but that small amount of inconvenience will result in a more streamlined operation once everything is in place.
