PQ Architecture Exhibit
Focus on
a New Generation

Seventeen projects, out of 29 submitted, were chosen for exhibition in the USITT's contribution to the Architecture and Technology Section of the PQ 2007 in Prague. The chosen theme for the American entry to this international competition is architecture for training facilities for the performing arts in the United States.

There will be 27 countries competing in the exhibition, and the space allocated to each is limited. The Advisory Panel was faced with a wide range of choices and some painful decisions. After lengthy discussion and careful consideration, two projects were selected for full exhibition with models, photographs and drawings, and 15 were chosen for exhibition on video. The criteria for selection were a combination of architectural and theatrical quality and the projects' contribution to education.

Serving on the Advisory Panel were: Dawn Chiang, lighting designer and adjunct professor; Peter E. Sargent, Dean, College of Fine Arts, Webster University; Robert Shook, theatre consultant, Schuler Shook; Michael Tingley, architect, BOORA, former USITT Architectural Commissioner; Richard Weinstein, architect, former dean, Graduate School of Architecture and Urban Planning, UCLA; and Richard Pilbrow. curator, founder and chairman emeritus, Theatre Projects Consultants.
