November 2 Rising Star Deadline

The online process to nominate young professionals for the 2011 USITT Rising Star Award sponsored by Live Design/LDI 2011 will open in early September. Deadline for nominations, the first step in the awards process, is November 2.

The Rising Star Award, now in its sixth year, recognizes young professionals at the beginning of their careers for artistic excellence in the areas of lighting, sound, scenic, and projection design or the convergence of several design disciplines.

Those nominated should be in the first four years of professional (non-academic) work following the completion of his or her highest degree.

USITT members are encouraged to begin the online process needed to nominate young professionals for this award. Once nominated, the young professionals will be contacted by USITT and asked to supply a professional resume, two letters of support, an application, and no more than eight representative examples of their work. The entire process can be completed electronically.

Nomination information, including past winners, is available here.

The 2011 Rising Star Award winner will receive $1,000, a one-year individual membership to USITT, and a complimentary registration for the 2011 Annual Conference & Stage Expo in Charlotte, North Carolina, March 9 to 12.

Contact the USITT Office at 800-938-7488 ext. 101 or info@office.usitt.org for assistance.
