Topic of USITT 2008 Keynote Announced

Kevin Rigdon, who will deliver the Keynote for the USITT has announced the title of his remarks.

Mr. Rigdon will speak on "To Get it Right in the End You Have to Get it Right in the Beginning."

His Keynote will kick off USITT's Annual Conference at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 19 in the Lanier Ballroom of the Hilton Americas - Houston.

Additional Credit on Tempe Center Award

The information on the design team responsible for the Tempe Center for the Arts, winner of a 2008 USITT Architecture Award, was incorrect in the February issue of Sightlines.

The facility, owned by the city of Tempe, Arizona was designed by Barton Myers Associates, Inc. and Architekton in association with theatre consultant Theatre Projects Consultants, Inc., and acoustical consultant Arup Acoustics.

Mehler Named ATHE Rep

USITT President Sylvia Hillyard Pannell has named Michael Mehler as USITT's representative to ATHE, the Association of Theatres in Higher Education.

Mr. Mehler, currently a Director at Large, will become USITT's VP-Programming on July 1, 2008. Ms. Pannell noted that "Michael's long involvement with both USITT and ATHE make him ideally suited for this new responsibility."

Mr. Mehler succeeds William J. Byrnes who has been USITT's representative for several years. "We appreciate all that Bill has done as our liaison with ATHE, helping keep us connected with this important group."

Conference Around the Corner

There is still time to register for the 2008 Annual Conference & Stage Expo. Online registration is scheduled to end on Sunday, March 2.

Monica Merritt, Conference Registration Coordinator, reminds those who have already registered that they can pick up their badges, needed to attend any Conference session, beginning at 3 p.m. Tuesday, March 18 in the third floor lobby of the George R. Brown Convention Center.
