Still Time for Sapsis Awards

There is still time for students to register for Professional Development Workshops and be eligible for a Sapsis Rigging Professional Development Award. Any student member who signs up for the Stage Rigging or Just Do It workshops by the Early Registration deadline will be entered in a totally random drawing and may have the cost of the PDW rebated. So, Just Do It and learn about Stage Rigging and the generous folks at Sapsis Rigging may pick up the tab.

Early Conference Deadline

Make sure to register for the 2006 Annual Conference & Stage Expo by February 23 to receive the Early Registration rate. After that time, costs go up in all Conference categories. Monica L. Merritt, Conference Registration Coordinator, has received very positive response from members on the new format for Conference payment receipts generated from the office's improved database. Don't forget that registrations must be made online by midnight, February 23, 2006, faxed, or postmarked by that date to receive the lower prices.

New Face Joins USITT Staff
Carrie E. Boyce joined the USITT Office staff in Syracuse as a Clerical Assistant. Ms. Boyce will help with many different tasks including processing membership, Conference registrations, and mailing. She is a welcome addition as the office heads into the busiest time of the year, preparing for the Annual Conference & Stage Expo.

News from the Big Easy

Colleagues in New Orleans are not all yet back to normal, but they are back in communication. Lyn F. Caliva, a member of the 2002 Conference Committee, has checked in; Tulane University has signed up to again exhibit with a table at Stage Expo, and TD&T Associate Editor Peggy Rosefeldt is back living in the city, although not yet in her home. We wish them, and all our associates in Louisiana, the absolute best.

Award Winner Authors New Book

Joe Blasco, winner of the 2004 Distinguished Achievement Award in Makeup Design, has recently published Volume 1 of his The Professional Make-up Artist with Vincent J-R. Kehoe. Mr. Blasco was kind enough to send an autographed copy inscribed "to all the wonderful men and women of USITT, I salute you."

Volume 1 includes history, technical, and beauty in its more than 1,000 pages, covering motion pictures, television, print, and theatre.

Title Changes for USITT

The Board of Directors has recently approved changes in the job descriptions and titles for several members of USITT's Executive Committee. The most obvious change is that Holly Monsos is now VP for Membership, Sections & Chapters, with Membership being added to her position. More information will be available in the March issue of Sightlines on the changes and their positive impact on the organization.
