Submit Inventive Ideas for Conference Poster Session
In 1902, this misquote was widely attributed to Charles Holland Duell, US Commissioner of Patents. What he actually said was, "In my opinion, all previous advances in the various lines of invention will appear totally insignificant when compared with those which the present century will witness. I almost wish that I might live my life over again to see the wonders which are at the threshold." (The Friend, Volume 76, 1902 according to Wikipedia)
With the availability of the Costume Archive's 16 years of Costume Poster Sessions, colleagues and students sometimes feel they have nothing new to add. Not so! Take to heart what Mr. Duell truly said. Although the "previous advances" will not become irrelevant, there will be many wonders to behold at the 2013 Milwaukee Conference & Stage Expo.
Those who want to present at the Costume Design & Technology Poster Session in Milwaukee should submit an abstract now. Go to www.usitt.org to find the instructions which are under the Conference tab, "Poster Session Proposals," or click here.
The deadline to submit 200-word abstracts is November 15. All submissions will be blind juried by the Costume Poster Selection Committee. All applicants will be notified by early December. Accepted presenters will be sent a list of guidelines. The actual presentation and handout information are not due until February 22.
