Students! Share an inspiring idea with USITT, and it might just happen. The International Grants Committee will award a $1,000 Travel Grant from Samuel H. Scripps International Fund to the best proposal.

Junior, senior, or graduate students can submit ideas and projects. The submissions must include the completed application form, project description (500 word maximum), location where the project will take place, planned timetable, budget, and intended accomplishments overseas. Each application should include a letter of recommendation from a current teacher, resume, and, for design related applications, 10 images of recent design work or a link to current on-line portfolio or website.

The application deadline is December 1, 2012.

The grant recipient is required to report the project results by the end of the award year and will be invited to share the research or creative process either as an international panel presentation at a USITT conference or through an article submitted to USITT communications office.

A Call to Connect!

In keeping with tradition, PLASA announces the Connectivity Pavilion at the LDI 2012 Show, to be held October 19 to 21 at the Las Vegas Convention Center. This pavilion, at booth 2041, provides a demonstration area for manufacturers' implementations of PLASA's ANSI standards throughout the lighting control industry.

PLASA asks manufacturers who wish to supply product for this year's Connectivity Pavilion to provide controllers, signal distribution, fixtures, accessories, monitoring, and other forms of equipment that implement current standards. A participation interest form is available here.

For further information about this year's Connectivity Pavilion, contact Bill Ellis, president of Candela Controls, at bellis@candelacontrols.com, or Karl Ruling, PLASA's technical standards manager, at karl.ruling@plasa.org.
